A respected businessman, he was given much credit for having made the Liberty Loans of World War I a success in his native city. He was active in the founding and maintenance of the Sunset Hills Country Club. Anheuser was recognized as as one of the most outstanding representative citizens of St Louis.The American brewery family of Anheuser-Busch fame are descendants of Eberhard Anheuser who was born in Bad Kreuznach, Germany.
