A respected businessman, he was given much credit for having made the Liberty Loans of World War I a success in his native city. He was active in the founding and maintenance of the Sunset Hills Country Club. Anheuser was recognized as as one of the most outstanding representative citizens of St Louis.The American brewery family of Anheuser-Busch fame are descendants of Eberhard Anheuser who was born in Bad Kreuznach, Germany. Two detailed renderings on the sides detail important events in Mr. Busch's life. One depicts him "bunging" Anheuser Busch s 10 millionth barrel of beer. The pewter lid features an A&Eagle logo on a ceramic inlay and a detailed eagle thumbrest. 9" tall. Comes in original box. Made by Gerz of Germany.
